Our History

Early Family Roots

John grew up in a hardworking family where driving, repairing, and operating heavy vehicles were part of everyday life. These early experiences began his lifelong connection with road transport.

British Road Services

John’s time with British Road Services introduced him to nationalised transport and the realities of professional haulage, including strict schedules, heavy loads, and challenging working conditions.

Becoming an Owner-Driver

John eventually moved into independent haulage. Running his own vehicle brought greater freedom, but also financial pressure, mechanical responsibility, and the constant need to provide for his family.

Military Service

Military service brought discipline, responsibility, and valuable experience with demanding vehicles. It prepared John for the long hours and difficult conditions he would later face on Britain’s roads.

The Lin-Can Years

At Lin-Can, John handled long-distance journeys, wholesale market work, and factory deliveries. Breakdowns, harsh winters, and exhausting schedules tested his patience, skill, and determination.

Fifty Years of Change

Across more than five decades, John witnessed road haulage develop from basic lorries and handwritten logbooks to modern vehicles, tighter regulations, container transport, and international operations.
